Quick Cards - A sized Stamp Set

Do you ever feel like you have so little time to get things done that it would be easier to go buy a card rather than make one yourself?  Well Close to My Heart has solved that problem for you.  In the current Idea Book there are two A sized stamp sets that are called Quick Cards stamp sets, one is a butterfly and the other is a shell.  The butterfly image below is one whole stamp, how cool is that!  It may look like it took lots of time and effort, while in reality it took me no time at all to make this card.
I used to paper packet Stella which has been one of my go to paper packets, I really love the vibrant jewel tones.  The image is from the Quick Cards - Butterfly stamp.  I sponged it with sponge daubers and tulip, sunset and cocoa ink.  I edge my paper pieces with cocoa ink and I finished it off with some of the seam binding ribbon that I sprayed with a mixture tulip and rubbing alcohol with our nifty spray pens.  Which brings me to another point I am really lovin' that Seam Binding ribbon, I can't seem to get enough of it!

Like I said before this card really came together in no time at all.  You could easily make the card more occasion specific by adding a sentiment, but it certainly could be given just the way it is!  The other Quick Cards stamp set is a shell and in the next couple of days I will post a card I made with it and also a video to show how easy it is to get the multi colored image, so be sure to be on the lookout for that.  As always thank you for looking.

Valentine's Treats!

Last week I posted pictures of the Valentine's the girls brought for their  classmates, using the same paper and stamp I made Valentine's for their teachers.  I bought small jars at Hobby Lobby and put a band of paper around the outside.  I filled them with candy and attached a tag I cut from the Close to My Heart Cricut cartridge.  They were very easy to make and they went together quickly.  I choose to accent the tag with a little sliver glitz gel and I used a black marker to add lines around the outside of the tag and the heart.  I finished the look off with some black baker's twine.  These could be made for any holiday, all that you have to do is change the paper, the candy and the tag.  The Close to My Heart  Cricut cartridge has a bunch of different options for tags that could be used for any holiday.

On Valentine's Day I always have a handmade card and a little something special at the girl's seat for them to see in the morning.  Here is the card that I made the girls.  I used the A sized stamp set Adore and the Lucy paper packet, I really liked how girly these were and I thought they worked great together.  These cards came together quickly and the girls really liked them.

Lately it has been a goal of mine to decorate the inside of the cards I make, I really think it adds to a handmade card.  It doesn't have to be anything to elaborate.  I put some pattern paper and cardstock on the inside.  I added one the rub-ons from the Lucy Complements, they are really fun because they have a little glitter in them and they are so easy to use.

Both of these projects came together quickly and that is a great reminder even if life is crazy busy most of the time, taking the time makes those extra little things in life all the more special.

Valentine's!

With Valentine's Day fast approaching I had 39 valentines to make for Catherine and Maddie's classmates!  I wanted to do something that was easy but cute at the same time.  I used plastic sleeves for the candy and then made the top out of the Roxie paper packet.
The heart is from the stamp set Love Life on page 100 of the Spring/Summer idea book.  I inked the image in smoothie ink first and then rolled the edges with tulip ink.  This technique is called Rocking and Rolling.  It is a fast way to give your image some pop!
Now that I have the valentine's done I will be working on valentine's for the girls teachers and grandparents so please be sure to check back in a couple of days.

Graduation Card

For the January swap that I participate in we used Typeset.  The paper is great for school pages, birthday cards or even personalized notecards for teachers.  I decided to use the paper for a graduation card.  I know it is only January but it is never to early to make the cards you might need in the spring.  These cards were easy to make and they showcase Close to My Hearts background and texture paper that has different patterns on each side.

Remember it is never to early to get graduation or birthday cards done.  Then you will have extra's on hand and won't be temped to buy them from the store!
